Cuts in U.S. aid complicate investigations into Russia\u2019s war crimes in Ukraine<\/b><\/h3>

The reduction of U.S. funding has begun to significantly affect programs related to documenting and investigating Russia\u2019s war crimes in Ukraine. According to <\/span>Reuters<\/span><\/a>, Donald Trump\u2019s administration, as part of its America First policy, has cut tens of millions of dollars in aid that had previously been allocated to such projects.<\/span><\/p>

According to the agency, nearly half of the U.S.-funded programs related to justice and the rule of law are now under threat. Representatives of Ukrainian and international organizations say that, because of this, some areas of work already have to be scaled back.\n\nHuman rights organizations, prosecutors, and international experts have already felt the consequences of the funding cuts. In particular, the organization Truth Hounds was forced to reduce its staff, suspend archival projects, and postpone training programs for judges and prosecutors.\n\nThe Yale University initiative to locate Ukrainian children taken to Russia and occupied territories has also been affected. Despite U.S. statements about maintaining support for some programs, Ukrainian and international experts acknowledge that replacing the lost American funding will be difficult, even with the involvement of the EU and the United Kingdom.<\/span><\/p>

A U.S. delegation may visit Kyiv and Moscow<\/b><\/h3>

A U.S. negotiating delegation led by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner may soon visit Kyiv and Moscow. This was <\/span>also reported<\/span><\/a> by the head of the President\u2019s Office, Kyrylo Budanov, during the international forum \u201cSecurity Architecture.\u201d\n\nAccording to him, information about preparations for the visit had previously been announced by the President of Ukraine, and the delegation itself confirmed its intention to hold meetings in both capitals. The Ukrainian side is currently preparing for the upcoming negotiations.<\/span><\/p>

Budanov also commented on the state of the negotiation process regarding the war, rejecting claims that it is completely stalled. He noted that some contacts and consultations are taking place behind the scenes and do not enter the public information space.\n\nAccording to the head of the President\u2019s Office, certain processes are continuing, although the details of such negotiations are not being disclosed. The possible upcoming visit by the U.S. delegation may become one of the key diplomatic contacts of recent times.<\/span><\/p>

Ukraine says PURL has sufficient funding\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>

Ukraine\u2019s Ministry of Defense <\/span>said<\/span><\/a>, that the volume of contributions from international partners to the PURL program remains sufficient to continue deliveries of critical American weapons.\n\nThe ministry emphasized that aid continues to arrive and that the procurement mechanism is functioning as usual. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense does not disclose information about the volume of deliveries, the list of participating countries, or the specific types of weapons involved. During martial law, such data is classified as official information.<\/span><\/p>

The PURL program operates through NATO mechanisms and provides for the financing of American weapons purchases by Alliance member states and Ukraine\u2019s partners. The equipment received is transferred to Ukraine\u2019s defense forces for use on the front line.\n\nRecently, part of the critical supplies from the United States has been financed through this mechanism. The Ministry of Defense stresses that the available resources are currently sufficient to continue implementing the program.<\/span><\/p>

Zelensky asks the U.S. to provide licenses for the production of Patriot missiles<\/b><\/h3>

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky <\/span>said<\/span><\/a>Ukraine continues to seek U.S. permission to produce missiles for Patriot systems.\n\nHe said this in an interview with CBS News, emphasizing the global shortage of anti-ballistic missiles. According to the president, current production rates do not match the scale of modern threats, while Russia continues to expand its own missile capabilities.<\/span><\/p>

Zelensky stressed that he had raised this issue with both the previous U.S. administration and the current one.\n\nThe head of state believes that increasing the production of Patriot missiles is important not only for Ukraine but also for other regions of the world. In his view, expanding production capacity would help respond more effectively to threats in Europe and the Middle East.\n\nZelensky also noted that, in order to create a full-fledged European missile defense system, Ukraine needs American support. That is why Kyiv continues to insist on the transfer of the relevant licenses and technologies.<\/span><\/p>

The U.S. discusses expanding the deployment of nuclear weapons in Europe<\/b><\/h3>

The United States is holding consultations on the possible expansion of its nuclear weapons presence in NATO countries. This was reported by <\/span>The Financial Times<\/span><\/a> citing sources familiar with the talks.\n\nAccording to the publication, U.S. officials are considering the deployment of nuclear deterrence assets in additional countries beyond the current six states participating in the nuclear sharing program. The discussions are taking place amid concern among allies over a possible reduction of the U.S. military presence in Europe.<\/span><\/p>

Particular interest in potential expansion is being shown by NATO\u2019s eastern flank states, including Poland and the Baltic countries. According to the FT, Washington\u2019s readiness for such consultations is intended to demonstrate that American security guarantees remain unchanged, even if European allies take on a larger share of the costs of conventional defense.\n\nAt the same time, sources emphasize that no final decisions have yet been made and that the talks remain confidential. NATO\u2019s current nuclear deterrence system includes Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, where U.S. nuclear assets are already deployed.<\/span><\/p>
