The Ukrainian Institute of America in New York hosted an evening in honor of Sergiy Kyslytsya's 5-year tenure as Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations. The event brought together ambassadors, diplomats and leaders of the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States to express gratitude for his contribution to the defense of Ukraine's interests in the international arena.
This was reported by Ukrainian World Congress.
In particular, UWC President Paul Grod emphasized the importance of Kyslytsia's diplomatic efforts to defend Ukraine's interests and rights in the international arena.
"A diplomat's diplomat - erudite, eloquent, with a great sense of humor and unflagging energy, which we have all witnessed during his five years of service to Ukraine. He is respected and loved by all who have had the privilege of working with him - diplomats, members of the Diaspora and others," noted UWC Vice President for North America Martha Farion.
Serhiy Kyslytsia, in turn, thanked the Ukrainian-American and Crimean Tatar communities for their continued support.
"In moments of despair, your determination and dedication allowed Ukraine's voice to be heard in parliaments, in the media, and on the streets around the world. Your commitment has shown that Ukraine is not just a battlefield, but a nation of strong and brave people who deserve freedom and a better future," he said.
The diplomat expressed special gratitude to veterans, volunteers and all those working for Ukraine's victory, stressing that their contribution is an integral part of the common success.
"Each of your actions, each display of courage at the front and in the occupied territories is what keeps our nation together," Kyslytsia added.
He also recalled the difficult moments of his service, when the difficulties seemed insurmountable, but the unity of Ukrainians around the world gave him strength.
"It is this unity - between Ukrainians at home and abroad, between governments and civil society, between the military and artists, between partners and allies - that has helped Ukraine survive," Kyslytsia stressed.
Background Sergiy Kyslytsia has served as Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations since 2020, playing a key role in Ukraine's diplomatic efforts in the international arena, including in times of war.
