In Washington, D.C., the first delegation of 2025 Open World Program participants met at Ukraine House. The group included Ukrainian doctors, psychotherapists, health and social workers, as well as representatives of state and local governments.
This was reported by Ukraine House.
The Open World program aims to strengthen ties between Ukrainian and American professionals. This year's participants will work on current challenges in the field of medicine and social support.
Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Oksana Markarova welcomed the delegation and encouraged the participants to make the most of the program to gain new knowledge and practices that they can apply in Ukraine.
"This time we have a special team again - doctors, specialists in psychology, social work, health care, rehabilitation, representatives of state and local governments from different parts of Ukraine. As part of the program, 12 participants will work on issues of political trauma in Tampa, Florida, 5 participants will focus on work with children during the war in Cincinnati, Ohio, and 6 participants will work on the reintegration of young veterans in Modesto, California," the ambassador said.
A special part of the program was the participation of Yana Chapailo, Director of the Center for Leadership of Defenders of Ukraine at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, and Maria Savrun, Head of Strategic Partnerships at the Center. After all, Kyiv-Mohyla Academy was the first to launch a comprehensive veterans' program, and this trip opens up new opportunities for partnerships between Ukraine and the United States in the field of veterans' support.
According to Ukraine House, the program organizers, the Congressional Office for International Leadership and Lewis Madanick, continue to make significant efforts to implement such educational exchanges that contribute to the professional growth of Ukrainian specialists and strengthen international cooperation.
According to the organizers of the event, the visit of Ukrainian doctors, rehabilitation specialists and social workers to the United States is an important step in introducing modern methods of treatment and social adaptation that will help Ukraine during the war and post-war recovery.
