On the occasion of International Migrants Day, the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine named after Gennady Udovenko in Kyiv hosted an event “Diaspora for the Restoration of Ukraine”, during which the launch of the Diaspora Alliance for the Restoration of Ukraine – a strategic platform for coordinating the participation of Ukrainian communities around the world in the processes of state reconstruction – was officially announced. Representatives of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations, including from the USA, also took part in the event.

“The launch of the Diaspora Alliance for the Restoration of Ukraine – a strategic platform designed to unite the efforts of Ukrainian communities around the world to support the reconstruction, sustainability and long-term development of Ukraine – was officially announced,” the message says.
The Alliance was reportedly established following a large-scale consultative process initiated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Government of Ukraine during the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference in Rome (URC2025). More than 40 Ukrainian diaspora organizations in Europe and North America were involved in the discussions.
In particular, it is specified that the Alliance aims to align diaspora initiatives with national reconstruction priorities, strengthen coordination, partnership and inclusive participation of Ukrainians around the world.
Key participants of the event included Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Denys Ulyutin, Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Ilona Gavronska, Head of the Mission of the Ukrainian World Congress in Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the IOM Representative Office in Ukraine Deyan Keserovych, as well as representatives of governments of partner countries and international organizations. The World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations was represented in the online event by Yaroslava Khortyani, Head of the Ukrainian World Congress to the UN in New York Zoryana Holovata, and Representative of the Ukrainian World Congress to the UN in Geneva Mariana Yevsyukova.
“It is an honor for me, together with Yaroslava Khortyani and Maryana Yevsiukova, to join the work conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine in the format of dialogue with the diaspora. I welcome the creation of the Diaspora Alliance for the Restoration of Ukraine and believe that the partnership of the state, international organizations and such global networks as the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations strengthens Ukraine’s capacity for restoration,” remarked Zoryana Holovata, the representative of the Ukrainian Women’s Organizations to the UN in New York. remarked представниця СФУЖО при ООН у Нью-Йорку Зоряна Головата.
The Ukrainian Women’s Organizations emphasized that participation in the creation of the Alliance is an important step for the systematic involvement of women’s organizations of the diaspora in the processes of reconstruction of Ukraine.
“We highly appreciate the openness of the IOM and partners to the dialogue and perceive the announcement of the launch of the Alliance as an important step towards a more coordinated participation of the diaspora in supporting Ukraine,” noted Yaroslava Khortyani, the head of the Ukrainian Women’s Organizations.
The Federation emphasized that as a global network of Ukrainian women's organizations, the SFUWO works to strengthen the voice of Ukrainian women in the world, ensure the visibility of their contribution to the reconstruction of the state, and transform diaspora solidarity into long-term support for Ukraine.
