Representatives of the U.S.–Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce met with members of the Canadian Consulate at the Consulate’s Dallas office on June 22 for an introductory discussion focused on business networking and community engagement.
The Chamber was represented by President Tamara Velsher, Vice President Pylyp Slipchenko, and Tatyana Bessmertnaya, News Director. The Canadian Consulate was represented by Consul General Susan E. Harper, Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner Richard Dubuc, and Consul for Political-Economic Affairs Nelson Kalil.
During the meeting, Chamber representatives introduced the organization and its activities. Tamara Velsher explained that while the Chamber maintains strong ties to the Ukrainian community, it welcomes businesses and professionals from all backgrounds and seeks to promote business and cultural connections across North Texas. The discussion also included the Chamber’s plans to expand its reach beyond the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
Consulate representatives discussed their work supporting business partnerships and opportunities between the United States and Canada. Susan Harper noted the Consulate’s interest in helping create partnerships and jobs through business engagement and collaboration.
The conversation also touched on Canada's Ukrainian community, one of the largest Ukrainian diasporas outside Ukraine. Participants discussed areas of mutual interest, including defense, infrastructure, and future business connections.
“Now we are aware of what you’re doing,” Harper said following the discussion.
The Chamber shared information about upcoming events, including a borscht tasting event and Ukrainian Independence Day celebrations. Chamber representatives also invited Consulate representatives to attend future programs and community gatherings.
The meeting lasted more than an hour and included introductions from both organizations, discussion of their activities, and an exchange of information about future opportunities for cooperation.
