The statement notes that, amid ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, the historical bond between the Ukrainian and Polish diasporas, as well as between Ukraine and Poland, remains “an unbreakable bulwark against tyranny.”
It also notes that the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and the Polish American Congress have championed the freedom, sovereignty, and right to self-determination of the peoples of Central and Eastern Europe for generations.
“Today, the test of war demands that we deepen this partnership,” the statement says.
According to the authors of the statement, Poland, as a front-line ally of Ukraine, has demonstrated extraordinary generosity, accepting millions of Ukrainian refugees and becoming a key logistical artery for humanitarian and military assistance.
Separately, Futey and Spool emphasized that cooperation between the Ukrainian and Polish communities in the United States is important not only as a manifestation of mutual support, but also as a factor in the geopolitical stability of Europe and the preservation of the democratic world order.
“Together, our communities in the United States must remain united and tireless in their advocacy,” the document says.
In particular, the authors of the statement called for further mobilization of resources, countering hostile disinformation, and appealing to elected US representatives to provide Ukraine with the sustained military, financial, and humanitarian assistance necessary for complete victory and lasting peace.
The statement also emphasizes that the future of Ukraine and Poland is inextricably linked to the victory of freedom over authoritarian expansionism.
“Standing side by side, we ensure that today’s sacrifices will become the foundation of a secure, prosperous, and integrated Euro-Atlantic future for both peoples,” Footey and Spool said.
They also recalled the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference that just concluded in Gdansk, Poland, and called on the Ukrainian and Polish communities to continue to stand together.
