The Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia held a webinar “TPS in Focus” dedicated to the future of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Ukrainians in the United States. The online meeting was attended by 575 participants who received explanations from leading immigration lawyers regarding possible scenarios for the development of the situation after the current term of the program expires.

The webinar took place on August 20, 2026, at a time when the issue of the future of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is one of the most pressing for Ukrainians in the US. The current term of the status for citizens of Ukraine expires on October 19, 2026, and a decision on its possible extension or termination has not yet been made.
Three prominent immigration law experts joined the panel discussion: Olga Khomyak, Svitlana M. Iva-Ugryn, and Iryna Mazur.
Olga Khomyak, founder of Khomyak Law PLLC in New York, specializes exclusively in U.S. immigration law. Her practice includes family and labor immigration, humanitarian protection, change of immigration status, naturalization, and deportation defense.
Svitlana M. Iva-Ugryn is the founder of Ugryn Law LLC in Chicago. She practices in the areas of immigration and family law, including humanitarian protection, family and labor immigration, and represents clients in deportation cases and preparing applications for USCIS.
The third speaker was Iryna Mazur, founder of Mazur Law Firm, PC, and Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Philadelphia. Her professional experience includes family, business, and investment immigration, consular matters, international adoption, and asylum cases.
During the webinar, the experts analyzed the possible consequences of the upcoming TPS decision for Ukrainians already in the United States with this status, considered the potential benefits and risks of various scenarios, and answered participants’ questions about further actions depending on the development of the situation.
According to the organizers, the participation of 575 people demonstrated the significant interest of the Ukrainian community in the topic of temporary protection and the need for professional legal information on immigration issues.
