Charity race in honor of Ukrainian heroes held in Virginia

In Sterling, Virginia, in Claude Moore Park, the American charity organization US Ukrainian Activists (USUA) organized a public race and walk “I Run for the Hero of Ukraine”. The event was timed to coincide with the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine.

This was reported in USUA.

“This race is dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine on August 29, honoring the memory of all Ukrainian servicemen and women, including members of volunteer formations, who gave their lives defending the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the charity said.

The event was held as part of the global initiative “I Honor the Warriors, I Run for the Heroes of Ukraine”, which originated in Ukraine and has spread far beyond its borders. Participants chose a specific fallen soldier from the pages of the “Book of Remembrance for Ukraine” and the “Ukrainian Memorial”, dedicating their start to him.

After the 2, 5 and 10 km races, a family program with a “potty” took place - a shared meal, children's games and entertainment. A cultural part was also prepared for the guests: an art exhibition, a visit to the Loudoun Farm Heritage Museum and walks along picturesque trails.

At the event, volunteers offered Support Ukraine T-shirts with a recommended donation of $25. The organization will use all funds raised to purchase vehicles for the 214th Separate Assault Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

For reference: US Ukrainian Activists is a charitable organization registered in the USA in 2015. It operates on a volunteer basis, supports the Ukrainian military, organizes humanitarian gatherings, as well as cultural events to promote Ukrainian culture abroad.
