The Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA) has opened applications for a $1,500 scholarship for scholars presenting research on Ukraine at the 2026 Annual Convention of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES). The event will take place from November 12 to 15, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois.
This was reported in a press release by the UNWLA.
As part of its long-standing support for Ukrainian studies, education, and the promotion of Ukrainian culture, the organization will award one $1,500 scholarship. The financial support is intended to assist researchers in attending the conference, with priority given to early-career scholars and those with limited institutional funding.
To be eligible, candidates must be confirmed presenters or participants in panel discussions or roundtables at ASEEES 2026, present research substantially focused on Ukraine, and be based in the U.S. or affiliated with a U.S. institution. They must also be willing to acknowledge UNWLA support in their presentation materials and participate in the organization’s post-conference activities—such as preparing a written summary or article, or participating in a webinar.
During the selection process, special attention will be paid to research addressing Ukraine’s experience regarding empires and imperialism, sovereignty and statehood, national identity, and democracy, as well as the historical or contemporary marginalization of Ukrainian voices and narratives.

Scholars who have already submitted proposals for ASEEES 2026 may apply for the competition by completing a dedicated online form.
