Russia accuses Ukraine of anti-Semitism

Russia has accused Ukraine of anti-Semitism. However, these accusations are refuted by the fact that Ukraine has joined the Global Recommendations on Combating Anti-Semitism, developed at the initiative of the United States and other countries.

This was stated by US Ambassador to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Deborah Lipstadt during an online briefing from Buenos Aires. She noted that Russia is using anti-Semitism and accusations of Nazism and fascism as a propaganda weapon against Ukraine.

"...Russia has tried to use anti-Semitism and accusations of Nazism and fascism against Ukraine as part of its propaganda, as part of its war. So this issue is on our agenda", Lipstadt said.

Lipstadt stressed that the Global Recommendations to Combat Anti-Semitism were initiated by the US government about eight months ago and initially supported by 18 countries. On 18 July, 38 more countries signed the recommendations at the Argentine Foreign Ministry, including Ukraine, which became the latest signatory.

Lipstadt is confident that the Recommendations will provide an important blueprint for governments and organisations to combat anti-Semitism.
