On September 4, the Ukrainian community of Calgary (Alberta, Canada) held "Let Ukraine Strike Back" protests in support of Ukraine - two rallies, one in the morning at the American Consulate of Calgary and one in the evening at the Municipal Plaza. The Ukrainians first demanded that the U.S. government authorize long-range missiles to hit any Russian military targets in response to the recent massive shelling of Poltava, Lviv, Kryvyi Rih, Sumy and other Ukrainian cities.
This was reported by Ukrainian Canadian Congress (Calgary Branch).
"The bloody, terrible and ungodly genocide of the Ukrainian people continues to grow in boldness and cruelty. At the same time, this terror goes unpunished and fearless because Russia knows about the restrictions on the use of weapons and therefore feels impunity! Wake up, Ukrainian partners! This terrorism, which is a message to the whole world, is being carried out at the expense of Ukrainian lives, our blood and our future! Every day the Russian aggression and destruction of Ukraine is spreading. Give us the opportunity to defend ourselves", the congress said in a statement.
Up to a hundred Ukrainians responded to the call of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (Calgary Branch) and participated in the "Let Ukraine Strike Back" rallies. The rallies were held in two locations. In the morning, protesters stood with placards near the American Consulate of Calgary, and in the evening - near the Calgary Municipal Plaza.
The demonstrators lined up in a long chain on both sides of the street, holding placards, Ukrainian flags and photographs of Ukrainians killed in Russian attacks on civilian targets. All events were accompanied by patriotic songs and slogans, in which not only adults, but also children participated.
