On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, US President Joe Biden took part in a special G7+ meeting dedicated to rebuilding Ukraine. More than 30 countries and the European Union laid the foundation for recovery by agreeing on a joint Declaration of Support for the Recovery and Reconstruction of Ukraine

U.S. President Joe Biden said that more than 30 countries and the EU have committed to rebuilding Ukraine after the war, emphasizing that Russia will be held accountable for the damage caused.
"Today we are showing Ukrainians that you are not alone. You are not alone in the rebuilding that comes after Ukrainians fought and died to be able to choose a free and independent future," Biden said.
By the end of the year, Ukraine will also receive about $50 billion, including from frozen Russian assets. Biden noted that part of these funds will go to Ukraine's military needs. This refers to the $280 billion of Russian Central Bank funds frozen outside Russia in 2022.
"The United States and our partners have decided to unblock 50 billion of the proceeds of Russia's frozen assets to direct this money to Ukraine, which is restoring and rebuilding its economy. Today we are reaffirming this with all our countries and legal systems. Valuable sovereign assets will be immobilized until Russia stops its aggression and pays for the damage it has caused." - Biden said.
Biden also said that the commitments set forth in the joint declaration of support for Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction would enable Ukrainians to "maximize the free and independent future for which they have sacrificed so much."
"This war has shown that Ukrainians can do anything they set their minds to," Biden said.
He expressed his determination to do everything to ensure that Ukraine has what it needs to win and fight for survival.
The international community is committed to ensuring Ukraine's economic stability, rebuilding critical infrastructure, and supporting reforms such as anti-corruption and justice reform. The Declaration of Signatories reaffirms support for a free, independent and democratic Ukraine.
