The Sunflower Society held its monthly rally in support of Ukraine at the Capitol. The Ukrainian community in California gathered on the 974th day of the full-scale invasion to honor the victims and show support for Ukrainians still suffering from Russian aggression. The event highlighted the abduction and deportation of Ukrainian children and the torture of prisoners of war held by the Russians.
This was reported by The Sunflower Society.
"The Sunflower Society and the Ukrainian community are appealing to Sacramento on behalf of all victims of human rights violations committed by Russia in its war against Ukraine: prisoners of war, civilian hostages, and forcibly displaced and deported children... International missions, humanitarian organizations and human rights institutions have constantly reported on Russia's crimes, followed by only conclusions and recommendations. The world seems to be watching. The world seems to watch, but does not see. We are grateful for all the words written, but deeply concerned about the lack of action. Although the world is aware of the facts of Russia's war crimes, we do not see enough action to stop the aggressor state. The aggressor still exists, has the ability to attack Ukraine every day, abduct children and civilians, torture and kill prisoners of war," said Olga Noshin, a participant in the action.
A new initiative called "Don't Turn Away" was unveiled at the rally to draw the attention of the American public to human rights violations by the Russian Federation.
Speaking on behalf of the victims and survivors of war crimes, the organizers emphasized: "We remain steadfast. We will not tire of highlighting this horrific and unjust war of destruction, and we will never stop helping the victims of this genocide, advocating for justice, and supporting those in need."
The event raised $400, which will be used to purchase power generators for the 4th Mechanized Battalion of the Presidential Brigade. The fundraiser was organized by Ukrainian volunteers @mila_lys_nik and @irasidorenko81.
