Symbols of memory: Washington honors the memory of fallen Ukrainian children

A memorial event was held in the center of Washington, DC, in honor of Ukrainian children who died because of Russian aggression. More than 600 teddy bears with Ukrainian flags were placed on the lawn. The event at the Washington Monument was organized by Rescue Ukraine in cooperation with other Ukrainian organizations and the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States.

This was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States.

According to Jeff Abrams, the initiator of the campaign, the teddy bears have become a symbol of memory of innocent children, as such toys are often used in memorials at the sites of tragedies in Ukraine.

During the event, official UN figures were announced: more than 600 Ukrainian children were killed and about 1,700 were injured because of the war. The real numbers are believed to be higher. Participants emphasized the importance of international support for Ukraine and called on the world community to pay attention to the tragedy.

Some of the teddy bears will be sent to hospitals and orphanages in Ukraine, and some will be delivered to the White House and the Capitol as a reminder of the importance of help.

The event ended with a prayer and the reading of the names of the dead children. The activists emphasized that such events are needed to make the whole world remember the terrible price of war.
