On the eve of Christmas, Ukrainian communities across the United States create an unforgettable atmosphere of festive cheer. Master classes, Christmas bazaars, sacred music concerts, and charity fairs await guests in Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Huntsville this week.
Master Class in Minneapolis
On December 13 at 5:30 p.m., the Ukrainian Center of Minneapolis (301 Main St. NE, Minneapolis, MN) will host a workshop on celebrating Christmas and Hanukkah. The event is organized by the Ukrainian American Community Center.
The event will feature a rich program: a master class on creating festive wreaths and arrangements by Ukrainian florist Valentyna Gurska, special wreaths for Ukrainians celebrating Hanukkah, as well as aromatic coffee, traditional Ukrainian desserts and a photo zone for taking memorable photos.
The event is charitable. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Stand with Ukraine to purchase medical supplies for Ukraine.
The event is open to all. Organizers urge everyone to join the festive atmosphere and support this noble initiative.
Christmas Market in Philadelphia
On December 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the UECC Ukrainian Center (700 N Cedar Rd, Jenkintown, PA) invites everyone to the annual Christmas Bazaar and Ukrainian Food Festival.
Organizers promise a warm holiday atmosphere, the opportunity to purchase unique items and enjoy authentic Ukrainian cuisine. In particular, visitors will find a variety of goods from local vendors and a gift raffle.
Christmas concert of sacred music
On December 14 at 4:00 p.m., the Ukrainian Catholic Church of St. Nicholas (2400 Poplar St., Philadelphia, PA) will host a Christmas music concert entitled "One Faith - Many Voices: God is with Us!"
A unique program of Eastern Christian and Western musical traditions has been prepared for guests. From the East - Ukrainian carols, works by Dmytro Bortnyansky and Mykola Lysenko, and from the West - compositions by Thomas Louis de Victoria, Thomas Wilkes, Paul Jernberg and Sir James MacMillan. The professional quintet will perform under the direction of Dr. Donald Meinecke, Music Director of St. Mark's Church and Artistic Director of Choral Arts Philadelphia.
The concert will be followed by a reception with light refreshments and an exhibition of works by local artist Mykhailo Danylovych. Organizers invite everyone to join them for a festive evening of music and fellowship in the spiritual atmosphere of Advent and Christmas.
Chicago Winter Art Fair
On December 14 and 15, the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art (2320 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, Illinois) invites you to the fourth annual Makers Market. The event aims to support local artists and promote contemporary art. The event is organized by the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art.
Visitors will be able to purchase unique products from local artisans, including ceramics, textiles, jewelry, candles and other unique items from brands such as Color is My Dopamine, Considered Cloth, Miskovsky Ceramics, NGB Pottery, etc. The event will also feature the exhibition "Agency: Craft in Chicago from the 1970s-80s and Beyond." Guests will enjoy DJ sets by Stafford, complimentary beverages, and raffles.
Charity Fair in Huntsville
On December 16, from 10:00 to 16:00 a charity Ukrainian craft fair will be held at the Ditto Landing Holiday Market (Ditto Landing Rd SE, Huntsville, Alabama). The event is organized by Support Ukraine, Ukrainians IN USA, Alabama, Huntsville Madison and Anna Molchanova.
The fair will feature handmade products created by Ukrainian artisans and local artists, holiday souvenirs, artwork, unique gifts, live music and winter walks. зимовою прогулянкою територією.
Participants are encouraged to come dressed in blue and yellow, and at 5:00 p.m. the water tower will be illuminated as a symbol of festive unity.
In addition to creating a festive atmosphere, the event aims to raise awareness of the situation in Ukraine. Proceeds will be used to provide humanitarian aid and assistance to Ukraine.
