Amid ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure and massive power outages, the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America has announced an urgent 48-hour fundraising drive to deliver generators to the Territorial Defense units of Ukraine. The U.S. community responded quickly, securing the purchase and shipment of dozens of generators within a week.

As reported, Russia’s targeted strikes on civilian and energy infrastructure have made cold, darkness, and unstable power supplies a daily reality for millions of Ukrainians. The situation is especially critical for the Territorial Defense units of Ukraine, which are performing tasks at forward and key defense positions.
“A reliable power supply, heating and access to water are vital not only for survival, but also for safety and effective task performance,” the UCCA release states.
It is noted that the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America received a direct request from the Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine regarding the urgent need for gasoline and diesel generators. Thanks to the partnership with Ukraine Focus, it became possible to quickly add generators to the humanitarian convoy, which was already planned to be sent to Ukraine along with ambulances and fire engines.
It is also noted that the logistics were fully provided, but the time for fundraising was critically limited – only 48 hours. That is why the UCCA appealed to the community with an urgent appeal to join the collection.
“If we act now, these generators will be in Ukraine next week – providing power to our defenders, saving lives and helping people stay safe in the cold and darkness,” the statement said.
The community response has been extraordinary. Within 48 hours, with the support of Ohio’s Fund to Aid Ukraine, which matched every dollar donated, we were able to raise funds to purchase 31 generators. The equipment was purchased without delay and is now on its way to Ukraine.
Ukraine Focus President Brock Bierman emphasized that the speed of this mission had a direct impact on saving lives.
“This mission shows that anything is possible when trusted partners act quickly and decisively. With the logistics in place and coordination in place, these generators were able to be added to a convoy that was already transporting ambulances and fire engines to Ukraine. Such speed directly translates into lives saved, especially in this brutal winter,” he noted.
In turn, the director of the UCCA office in New York, Tamara Oleksiy, thanked donors and partners for their promptness and trust.
“Within 48 hours, our community came together to respond to this urgent appeal, and thanks to the partnership with Ukraine Focus, these critically important generators are already on their way to Ukraine. This is what partnership and community-led humanitarian assistance look like in action,” she emphasized.
The UCCA emphasized that all donations were fully directed exclusively to the purchase of generators.
“Every dollar was counted. Every minute mattered. This is rapid, accountable assistance – done right,” the organization summarized.
