“Warmth & Solidarity” has already raised over $10,000 for Ukrainians suffering from the cold

A charity concert will soon take place in Boston, on February 28.Warmth & Solidarity Concert and Fundraiser.The event has already raised and donated more than $10,000 for emergency assistance to civilians in Ukraine who are suffering from the cold due to Russian strikes on critical infrastructure.

The day before, Ukrainian pianist and composer Vadym Neselovsky spoke on the Morning Edition program about his new project “PERSEVERANTIA” and the initiative to hold a charity concert in Boston.

“The goal of the concert is to promptly provide emergency aid to civilians in Ukraine who are freezing due to attacks on energy infrastructure,” the musician noted.

The “Warmth & Solidarity Concert and Fundraiser” event will be held on February 28 at 5:00 p.m. in Boston. The event will bring together artists, medical workers and volunteers to support Ukrainians who are going through a difficult winter in war conditions.

The collected funds are channeled through the nonprofit organization Ukraine Rescue Fund (URF). Volunteers in Kyiv purchase and distribute heating supplies — including blankets, sleeping bags, heated vests, warm socks, chemical hand warmers, as well as power banks and portable charging stations.

After reaching the $10,000 milestone, URF expanded its mission to rural areas. Truckloads of firewood are being delivered there for elderly residents who rely on wood-burning stoves to survive.

“We see how critical the situation is for people who are left without light and heat. Therefore, it is important to act quickly,” the organizers of the gathering emphasize.

To scale up the assistance, URF has joined forces with partner organizations. Together, they plan to allocate more than $50,000 for further winter support and electricity supply. Part of the humanitarian aid – warm clothing and essential items – was collected in Scandinavian countries. They were delivered by the Swedish non-profit organization Operation Change in coordination with the Ukrainian partner Roxolani Trust.

In addition to the concert program, guests will see a presentation of the documentary film “Standing Up Against the Sky”The film tells the story of a man who left a successful career as a premier ballet dancer to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the full-scale invasion in February 2022. The film features music from Neselovsky’s new album “PERSEVERANTIA”.

Admission to the concert is free: the organizers urge everyone to pay as much as they can. Those who are unable to attend the event can support the initiative by donating link.
