Unity knows no borders: Ukrainians in the U.S. join the celebration of Ukraine's Unity Day

On January 22, Ukrainians in the United States celebrated Unity Day by organizing symbolic events in Philadelphia and New York, including a human chain at Independence Hall and the Circle of Unity rally. The Ukrainian diaspora demonstrated that distance does not divide, but only underscores the power of unity on the road to victory. The day brought hundreds of participants together in a common desire for peace, justice and victory. Together they proved that "unity knows no boundaries.

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, a public event was was held at the historic Independence Hall to commemorate Ukraine's Unity Day. The event has become a symbol of unity of Ukrainians around the world, as on this day in 1919 the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic was solemnly proclaimed in St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv.

The event began with the formation of a human chain in which participants held Ukrainian and American flags with placards indicating the distance from their place of residence to their hometown in Ukraine. This action was a vivid reminder that even across great distances, Ukrainians remain united.

Organizers Eugenia Pietsukh, Liliia DeCos and others spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of unity not only for Ukraine, but for the entire world that supports its fight for freedom.

"We want to emphasize the importance of unity not only within Ukraine, but throughout the global Ukrainian diaspora, as we all work together to support Ukraine's fight for freedom and victory in the 11th year of Russia's invasion. The message is clear: unity remains the strongest force in achieving justice, peace and independence," said Eugenia Pietsukh, one of the event's participants. Eugenia Pietsukh.

Also on this day, a symbolic gathering, the Circle of Unity, was held in New York City to commemorate Ukraine's Unity Day. According to the organizer of the event, Svitanok.nyc, Ukrainians around the world are uniting today, just as their ancestors did in the struggle for independence.

"Our circle of defiance in New York yesterday reminded us of one of the most important values - unity. Today, on January 22, Ukraine's Unity Day, we are united as our ancestors were more than a century ago. Now our geography has expanded. We are united not only in our country, but all over the world," the organizers said.
