The Ukrainian community in San Diego has joined the largest blood drive in the history of the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States. The Believe in Ukraine Blood Drive, organized by House of Ukraine and the San Diego Blood Bank, continues and anyone can become a part of it.
This was reported by House of Ukraine.
"Hello San Diego and Ukrainian Community! This is the biggest blood drive in the history of our community. But this is not only our initiative - it is an inter-American project, joined by Ukrainians from all over the country! We want to break the all-American record with more than 17,000 donations. And we can do it together!" - said concluded.
In particular, the large-scale campaign launched on February 23 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Protection of the Holy Mary attracted dozens of donors who not only saved lives but also expressed their solidarity with Ukraine. On that day, 38 people gave blood, 27 of them for the first time. A total of 33 units of blood were collected, and most importantly, 99 lives were saved. Another campaign collected 39 out of 42 record donations for an SD Blood Drive.
"This is more than a donation - it is a gesture of gratitude and unity. We are showing that support for Ukraine can come in many forms and that even a drop of blood can save lives," said the organizers.
The event was a symbol of gratitude from the Ukrainian community in the United States for the support and assistance Americans provide to Ukraine. By partnering with the American Coalition for Ukraine, donors not only helped local hospitals, but also served as a reminder that Ukraine continues to fight for freedom and independence.
"With the support of the American Coalition for Ukraine, this initiative is a powerful way to turn gratitude into action. While U.S. assistance has helped save countless Ukrainian lives, Ukrainians in the U.S. and the Ukrainian-American diaspora are now giving back - one blood drive at a time - to help save lives in Southern California," added House of Ukraine.
If you would like to join the campaign, you can donate blood at any San Diego Blood Bank location, say "I would like to donate blood to the All-Ukrainian Blood Donor Project" and use the code UKRN when registering.
