On Sunday, February 1, a charity piano concert “Notes of Hope” will be held in New York, dedicated to urgent fundraising to support obstetric care in Ukraine in the conditions of a full-scale war.
This was reported to Vilni Media by the press service of the Union of Ukrainian Women of America, Branch 113 (UNWLA).
As noted, since February 24, 2022, more than 2 thousand strikes on hospitals have been recorded in Ukraine, affecting 82 maternity hospitals and obstetric care centers. Medical personnel and women in labor are under constant threat from drone attacks, artillery and ballistic missiles, and critically important equipment – incubators, monitors and emergency supplies – is being destroyed. In such conditions, providing assistance to mothers and newborns becomes extremely dangerous.
The Ukrainian National Women's League of America emphasizes that modern medical technologies, in particular portable Butterfly ultrasound devices, can save lives even during shelling. It is for the purchase of such equipment that the funds raised will be directed.
The event will feature a concert by world-famous Ukrainian pianist Pavlo Gintov, who will perform works by Ukrainian composers. The musician has performed on leading stages around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, Teatro Verdi in Milan, and Kioi Hall in Tokyo, and is the laureate of the First Prize of the Takamitsu International Piano Competition. And, of course, he is an active and passionate popularizer of Ukrainian classical music.
The organizers emphasize that every donation and every ticket purchased will directly help provide expectant mothers and doctors in Ukraine with the necessary equipment, materials, and support.
“Every donation and every ticket purchased makes a significant contribution to our mission to support expectant mothers, children, and healthcare workers in Ukraine. The funds raised will be used to purchase necessary supplies, medical equipment, restore infrastructure, and attract professionals,” the event organizers summarized.
The Notes of Hope benefit concert will be held at the Kosciuszko Foundation at 15 E. 65th Street, New York, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
A reception and silent auction will follow the concert to support obstetric care in Ukraine.
