For the first time in Washington, Ukraine House hosted a chamber Christmas music evening featuring Ukrainian singer Valeria Vovk and renowned pianist Fima Chupakhin.
This was reported by Ukraine House.
“From the oldest known Ukrainian carol “Oh, how it was” to “Carol of the Bells” and modern holiday compositions, this evening combined Ukrainian tradition with warm jazz intonation,” the report says.
As noted, the program consisted of Ukrainian carols, original winter compositions, and favorite American classical compositions, presented in a chamber acoustic format. The musical evening was an invitation for the community to celebrate the Christmas season together and delve deeper into Ukrainian culture.
It was also noted that the event became an example of cultural diplomacy, which unites different cultures, generations and communities through music. The organizers emphasized the importance of humanitarian and cultural activities of artists in support of Ukraine.
“It was a powerful reminder of how music unites cultures, generations and hearts,” the post emphasizes.
