Intelligence, weapons and negotiations: how the US is changing its support for Ukraine

As the US suspends military aid to Ukraine, President Zelensky offers Donald Trump cooperation, particularly in the field of mineral resources. Kyiv warns that without American support, it will only be able to hold the front line until the summer. In the US Congress, Trump says that the pressure on Ukraine has paid off, and the CIA director confirms that Washington is working to restore cooperation.

Zelenskyy expresses willingness to work with Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented a peace plan to end the war and expressed his willingness to work constructively under the leadership of US President Donald Trump. He also proposed signing an agreement that would give the US access to Ukraine's natural resources. The move followed Trump's decision to suspend military aid to Ukraine. Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's desire for peace and readiness to negotiate, while European leaders expressed support for Kyiv and concern over the sudden suspension of US aid.

Ukraine has enough weapons for two to three months

Ukrainian forces are currently holding back Russian offensives, but are facing difficulties due to President Trump's decision to suspend military aid. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said Ukrainian troops are now well-equipped, in part because of increased local production of military equipment such as drones. But officials warn that US resources, including ammunition and air defence systems, will only last two to three months. The White House said the suspension was part of a "pause and review" following a tense meeting between Trump and Zelenskiy.

Trump notes Zelenskiy's willingness to negotiate 

During a speech to Congress, US President Donald Trump remarked a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in which he expressed his willingness to negotiate and sign a mineral agreement. This was an unexpected step after the suspension of military aid to Ukraine, which, according to Trump, justified his pressure on Kyiv. russia also expressed its readiness to negotiate a lasting peace. Republicans welcomed the development, while Democrats remain sceptical.

The CIA confirmed it: US suspends intelligence support to Ukraine CIA

John Ratcliffe reportedthat the United States has suspended intelligence and arms support to Ukraine. However, he stressed that Washington was working to lift these restrictions. Radcliffe said the US would work with Ukraine to deter aggression and advance peace talks. The CIA chief also expressed hope that restrictions on intelligence sharing would soon be lifted.
