Milwaukee, Wisconsin, recently hosted German Fest, one of the largest German festivals in North America. Among the dozens of themed booths and hundreds of visitors, the Ukrainian community took an active part in the event. The Wisconsin Ukrainians organization presented a tent at the festival featuring traditional crafts, souvenirs, and informational materials about Ukraine.
This was reported by by the Wisconsin Ukrainians Inc.
The Ukrainian booth stood out for its variety of goods and souvenirs. Visitors could see handmade crafts, decorated tableware, pottery, embroidered napkins, jewelry, paintings, souvenir mugs, and scented sachets. Ukrainian craftsmen presented stained glass and decorative elements made of colored glass in the form of birds, houses, boats, and other figures. Some of the craftsmen have been living in the US since the full-scale invasion.
"Ukrainians in Wisconsin are proud to have been part of German Fest this weekend at the Summerfest Grounds in Milwaukee!" Wisconsin Ukrainians shared.
The money raised during the festival will go toward supporting humanitarian projects and helping Ukraine.
"All funds go directly to supporting Ukraine and our humanitarian efforts. Your support helps us continue to deliver aid and stand strong for freedom," said the organization, encouraging festival guests to learn about Ukrainian culture, make donations, and purchase symbolic items "with history" as a memento of their encounter with Ukraine.
