In the United States of America, Ukraine continues to expand the network of honorary consular institutions. Thus, in the state of Oklahoma, an Honorary Consul of Ukraine was appointed in the city of Tulsa, and a partnership between the cities of American Tulsa and Ukrainian Sumy was officially formalized. The new steps are aimed at developing interregional cooperation and deepening humanitarian, economic and cultural ties between Ukraine and the United States.

“We continue to expand the consular presence of Ukraine in the United States,” the institution said in a statement.
As reported, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Olga Stefanishyna, presented a consular patent to Karl Algren, who took up the position of Honorary Consul of Ukraine in the city of Tulsa, and also signed an Agreement on Consular Functions and Responsibilities with him.
Carl Algren is an American volunteer and founder of the non-profit organization “Ukraine Action Plan”, which in recent years has been engaged in advocacy and humanitarian activities in support of Ukraine.
It is also noted that the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Tulsa should strengthen the opportunities for providing assistance to Ukrainian citizens in the United States, will contribute to the development of bilateral trade and economic relations, partnerships between the regions of Ukraine and the state of Oklahoma, as well as public diplomacy projects.
As of today, Ukraine already has 11 honorary consulates in the United States, and work to expand this network is ongoing.
It is also noted that during Ukrainian Week in Washington, a Declaration on Partnership between the cities of Tulsa (state of Oklahoma) and the Ukrainian city of Sumy was signed . The ceremony was attended online by Acting Mayor of Sumy Artem Kobzar and Mayor of Tulsa Monroe Nichols.
“This is an important step towards strengthening international support for our community. We consider the signed Declaration as a basis for real and meaningful cooperation… We count on the further development of friendly relations and practical interaction. This partnership opens up new opportunities for joint projects in the spheres of economy, education and culture,” emphasized Artem Kobzar.
In turn, Olga Stefanishyna emphasized that partnerships between cities grow out of solidarity and interpersonal ties.
“The partnership between Tulsa and Sumy opens up opportunities for joint projects in the sphere of economy, education, culture and technology,” noted the Ambassador of Ukraine.
The Embassy thanked Honorary Consul Carl Algren for his contribution to the development of contacts between the cities and everyone who participated in the formalization of the agreements.
