In Los Angeles, during one of the largest marathons in the United States, a charity race “Light for Brave Children” with Ukrainian flags was held in support of children who lost their parents while defending Ukraine. The funds are planned to be used to purchase generators and battery stations to provide families with electricity for basic needs.
This was told to Vilni Media by one of the organizers - ultramarathon runner, 4-time Ukrainian record holder in ultramarathon running, organizer of charity races in Europe and the United States Mykola Taran, and the charity initiative Brave Children of Ukraine.
“The charity marathon is my 42 kilometers, which the team of the “Brave Children of Ukraine” charity fund and I turned into a great help,” Mykola Taran told the publication.
As reported, on March 8, one of the most famous marathons in the USA took place in Los Angeles, in which more than 27 thousand runners took part. The route of the race passed through the city’s iconic places, and the start of the race was held at Dodger Stadium.
As part of this event, the “Light for Brave Children” charity race with Ukrainian flags and the participation of a famous athlete took place. The goal is to help families of children who lost their parents while defending Ukraine receive battery stations and generators so that their homes have light and electricity for basic needs.
On the eve of the main start, Mykola Taran ran an official 5-kilometer race, and also organized a charity 2-kilometer race in Echo Park Lake for Ukrainians and all those who wanted to support the rally.
“The goal of the rally gave me strength. My team and I wanted to help children who lost their parents while defending Ukraine. They need light,” the athlete said.
According to Taran, during the marathon he ran with the flag of Ukraine, and spectators and participants supported the Ukrainian athlete.
According to the organizers, the fundraising initiative is ongoing, and anyone who wants to can join it can do so here – the funds will be directed to support the families of children whose parents died while defending Ukraine.
