The Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia has announced a strategic working session that will bring together clergy, religious, and laity to define the future development of the Church and its key priorities for the coming years. The event will take place on April 22 in Philadelphia.
This was reported by Archeparchy of Philadelphia Ukrainian Catholic Church.
The Archeparchy of Philadelphia is an important ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the United States. It covers the District of Columbia, as well as the states of Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, and eastern Pennsylvania. The total area spans approximately 230,829 square kilometers, with around 12,000 faithful. The Archbishop of Philadelphia also serves as Metropolitan for other Ukrainian eparchies in the U.S., including those in Stamford, Chicago, and Parma.
The initiative was led by Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, who invited all interested participants to join in shaping the future of the Archeparchy.
The session will continue the previous strategic period (2021–2024) and build on the outcomes of the Archeparchial Sobor (2019–2021). It will also be grounded in the pastoral strategy of the UGCC through 2030 titled “The Hope to Which the Lord Calls Us.”
Organizers emphasize that the goal of the event is not only to review past achievements but also to define new directions for church life, strengthen cooperation between clergy and the community, and find effective ways to respond to contemporary challenges.
The program of the strategic session includes:
- Divine Liturgy;
- working discussions and strategic sessions;
- a shared meal.
Clergy, religious members, church staff, and laity are invited to participate. Attendees will have the option to join both in person and online, allowing for broader engagement in the discussion.
Organizers stress that the meeting is intended to serve as a space for open dialogue, shared vision, and planning aimed at strengthening the life of the Church and its mission in the United States.
