On the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a Decree on awarding Ukraine with state awards. Among the awardees are a US congressman, a senator, public figures, philanthropists, military personnel, clergy, representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora and American partners who have made a significant contribution to supporting Ukraine.
This was reported by the Official Internet Representation of the President of Ukraine.
“A number of representatives of the United States of America have been awarded state awards for their significant personal contribution to strengthening interstate cooperation, supporting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, charitable activities and promoting Ukraine in the world,” the Decree states.
One of the highest awards, the Order of Merit, First Class, was awarded to United States Congressman Brian Kevin Fitzpatrick and actor, screenwriter, film director, and ambassador of the state fundraising platform UNITED24 Liev Schreiber. And the Order of Merit, Second Class, was awarded to Mark Levin, Executive Vice President of the National Coalition Supporting Eurasian Jewry.
Among the representatives of the Ukrainian community in the United States, awarded the Order of Merit, 3rd degree, are Yuriy Arashidze, co-founder and executive director of the Protez Foundation, Father Mykola Buryadnyk, rector of the St. Joseph the Betrothed parish of the UGCC in Chicago, public figure from Houston Mykhailo Balagutrak, president and co-founder of the USA-Ukraine Foundation Nadiya Komarnytska-McConnell, co-founder of the Foundation Robert Armstrong McConnell, co-chairman of the board of directors of the Global Medical Knowledge Alliance McComb Dunwoody, commander of the California National Guard Matthew Beavers, and US Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
The Order of Princess Olga, 3rd degree, was awarded to the President of the Union of Ukrainian Women of America (UNWLA) Natalia Pavlenko, Head of the UMANA Foundation Maria Roma Hrytselyak, President of the charitable organization Help Ukraine Group and Professor Natalia Kovalchuk, Co-founder of the Liberty Ukraine Foundation Antonina Levchuk, Founder and CEO of the Global Medical Knowledge Alliance Nelya Melnychuk, and Public figure, journalist and philanthropist Mitka Perdyu.
UNWLA noted, that this state award is a recognition not only of the personal work of Natalia Pavlenko, but also of the more than a century of activity of generations of members of the organization who supported Ukraine, preserved the Ukrainian language and culture, defended historical truth and helped the Ukrainian people.
“This high state award recognizes Natalia’s service to Ukraine, but this recognition also belongs to generations of UNWLA women who have never forgotten Ukraine for over 100 years,” the organization emphasized.
“Professors Natalia Kovalchuk and Nelya Melnychuk consistently and persistently contribute to the development of Ukrainian oncology, expanding opportunities for professional training of doctors in leading international centers and strengthening cooperation with foreign colleagues,” noted on the Ukrainian platform OncoHub.
