In New York, the Bedlam West End Theater hosted a sold-out performance of the documentary "Diary of War: Women. The event raised $19,200, which will be used to support Ukrainian combat medics from the Hospitallers in Ukraine, who help conduct medical evacuations and provide critical care on the front lines.
This was reported by project organizer Daria Kolomiets.
The performance took place in an 80-seat theater and became a successful event that united participants in support of Ukraine.
"At every performance, I have two goals that are equally important to me: to raise money and to raise awareness about Ukraine. This time we raised $19,200 for the Hospitallers... I give myself completely to each performance and the next day I can't get out of bed. Emotionally and physically I am at zero, but the results are worth it. Thank you all for your support," said Kolomiets.
The purpose of the New York performance was also to remind Americans of the 1000 days of the full-scale invasion and almost 11 years of the Russian war.
The play was based on the diaries of seven Ukrainian women who shared their experiences of the war. The reading was directed by Muse Gurnis, who also read one of the diaries. Other stories were read by actresses: Katie Grimes, Kate Hartke, Merlinda Akindele, Tessa Wineland, Agnes Enkhtamir, and Tatien Hendricks-Tellefsen. The event began with a musical set by bandura player and singer Anastasiya Voytyuk.
Although the event is over, everyone can still help and donate through the event's partner, the American charity United Help Ukraine, which has been providing humanitarian, medical and psychological assistance to victims of the Russian war in Ukraine since 2014.
The performance was made possible thanks to the cooperation of many people and organizations. Daria Kolomiets expressed her deep gratitude to everyone involved, including volunteers, supporters and artists.
"I am infinitely grateful to all the wonderful women who lent their voices to the diaries of seven Ukrainian women," she added, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective effort.
