Ivan Bahrianyi's unique collection of documents returns home

A landmark event for Ukrainian culture and history has taken place: the unique collection of documents of the Ivan Bahrianyi Foundation, collected by the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States, has been transferred for permanent storage to the Central State Archives of Public Associations and Ukrainian Studies.

This was reported by the State Archival Service of Ukraine.

This large-scale initiative was the result of close cooperation between Ukrainian government agencies and the diaspora. Documents containing valuable information about the life and work of the prominent Ukrainian writer Ivan Bahrianyi, as well as about the activities of the Foundation, have already begun to arrive in Ukraine.

"Anatoliy Khromov, the head of the State Archives of Ukraine, emphasized that one of the largest collections of documents is being transferred from abroad to Ukraine, which proves that our country is capable of accepting such documents for state storage due to the availability of highly qualified archival specialists and the appropriate material and technical base", the press service of the State Archives Service reported.

Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of returning Ivan Bahrianyi's archives to Ukraine and their scientific value for researchers of Ukrainian literature and history.

After all the necessary procedures of description, systematization and digitization are completed, the documents will be available online at the archive's website, allowing a wide range of researchers and other interested parties to get acquainted with these unique materials.
