WILL THE KURSK SINK?

author: Myroslav Hrekh

Do you remember how, at the beginning of his presidency, the russian leader putin (I would prefer to call him putler from now on, in analogy with hitler—there was hitler, and now there's putler, equally monstrous in their cruelty) responded when asked in an interview what happened to the submarine "Kursk"? His reply was simply, "It sank." The question has now returned with a grotesque twist—"Will the russian Kursk 'sink' under the pressure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces or not?" Who can answer that? It's pointless to ask putler—his response is well-known. The only answer will come with time and the decisions of the Ukrainian military command.

Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi reported to the President of Ukraine that as of August 13, 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine control 74 settlements in the Kursk region and 1,000 square kilometers of its territory, and that the offensive continues. The true objectives of this military operation are classified by the Ukrainian leadership. However, it can already be said that one of them—drawing enemy units away from the eastern front to Kursk—has been partially achieved. Another equally important goal is to demonstrate the weakness of the russian army, its inability to defend its own territory, and the incompetence of its command. Ukrainian forces have captured between 1,000 to 2,000 russian soldiers, mostly inexperienced conscripts who have no desire to die for putler's delusional ideas. The cowardly Chechen "Akhmat" unit has been defeated and driven back, and hundreds of units of russian equipment have been destroyed. The exact russian casualties are unknown, but they undoubtedly exist and are significant.

For the first time since 1941-43, a foreign army has set foot on russian soil and captured a part of it. Until now, it was only they who, time and again, seized others' lands. This has dealt an irreparable blow to the image of the russian army, its command, and personally humiliated the rashist führer—putler. It's no wonder he is so nervous and angry, unsure of what to do next. The Ukrainian Army has shown our partners and the world that rashists can and must be beaten on their own land without asking anyone's permission, that the threats of the moscovites are hollow, their might inflated, and that the "red lines" they draw can be pushed further back, all the way to moscow itself. The moscovites' hopes that Ukraine's partners would reprimand and restrain her have not materialized. On the contrary, our friends in America and Europe have said that such an operation is justified and fair, and is a form of retribution against russia, with Ukraine fully entitled to decide how to wage this war.

At present, more than 100,000 residents of the captured territories in the Kursk region (pardon, I misspoke: not captured, but liberated—just as they speak about us) have been forced to leave their homes and flee. War has come to them too. As the moscovites say, "What they fought for is what they got." Now they feel it. And this is just a small fraction of what Ukrainians endured during the bombings and shelling of their villages and cities. In this case, the suffering and losses are incomparable in numbers and facts. The Kursk residents are whining and crying because they have to abandon their homes and farms with cows, pigs, and goats, and flee for their lives. They beg putler for help, not realizing that the root cause of what happened is him. A foolish, brainwashed, propaganda-zombified population still cannot grasp that they have become hostages to putler's phobias and whims. The rashist governors are unable to decently accommodate the refugees and plan to send them to the occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia region. Well, let them send them under future attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Meanwhile, we will send our refugees to the Kursk region and establish the KPR (Kursk People's Republic) there. Then we'll exchange people and territories. This, of course, is in the realm of fantasy, but who knows? In any case, the fact that part of the Ukrainian-russian front now runs through russian territory, and that even putler has admitted that Ukraine is trying to strengthen its position in future negotiations (if they ever take place), is undeniable.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation to seize russian lands continues. No one knows how it will end. Time will tell. Predicting anything on this topic is like reading tea leaves. The media and social networks are currently abuzz with such speculations, but there's no need to worry too much—just keep an eye on developments.

One thing can be said for certain: the Ukrainian Armed Forces' raid has once again shattered the myth of the russian army's invincibility and, FOR THE FIRST TIME, the myth of the inviolability of russian territory. The enemy has realized that the war has reached their home, and they are unable to defend themselves effectively. The russian leadership and putler himself have been dealt a resounding slap, heard around the world. All that remains is for us to pray and hope that all this is not in vain, that it brings us closer to victory, and to support our soldiers with all our strength, in any way we can.

Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine!
