On September 23-25, 2024, the Fifth Ukraine Action Summit will be held in Washington, DC, bringing together more than 500 delegates from across the United States in support of Ukraine. In April 2024, the previous Summit brought together 560 participants from 47 states to call on Congress to support the Ukraine Supplemental Security Act. After the event, Congress voted to provide $60 billion in aid to Ukraine.
This was reported on the event's website.
This year, interviews are planned with representatives of the summit, including Marianne Tretiak, Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Coalition to Support Ukraine, and activists who have repeatedly supported Ukrainian initiatives.
Among the participants of the summit are:
- Bradley McMillan (Tennessee) - a veteran and physician who has volunteered in Ukraine.
- LJ Yoder Gallagher Norton, MD, a volunteer with Save Ukraine.
- Bill Cole (California) - a volunteer who delivered humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
- Vytautas Packauskas (Michigan) - a 93-year-old veteran who has been helping Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
- "Zemlyachki.Ukrainian Front is a social project supporting women in the military, included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
- The Ukrainian World Congress is an international non-governmental organization representing the interests of more than 20 million Ukrainians in the diaspora.
Also on September 24, a peaceful rally will be held near the White House to draw attention to critical issues affecting Ukraine.
In addition to the main events, the Summit will feature several side events, including a concert by the Ukrainian band Antytila with the program "Culture vs War“.
In parallel, there will be a screening of the documentary film Zoo at the Checkpoints, which documents efforts to save animals during the war, with an opportunity to discuss the film with the director.
This summit is an important platform for discussing strategies to support Ukraine and shape the future of U.S.-Ukraine relations.
