The Porcelain War, a documentary about the war in Ukraine, will be screened at the Newport Beach Film Festival. The film won the Grand Prix at the famous American independent film festival Sundance. The screenings are supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Los Angeles.
This was reported by Ukrainian Congress Committee of America.
The film is directed by Slava Leontiev, who tells the story of his family and close friends: his wife Ania Stasenko, a porcelain artist, and her friend Andriy Stefanov, a painter and photographer.
"Amid the chaos and destruction caused by Russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine, the three artists find inspiration and beauty in defending their culture and their country", the organisers said.
The film shows how Anya finds strength in her art, Andriy saves his family by transporting them abroad, and Slava becomes a weapons instructor for people who have suddenly become soldiers. Andriy also makes a video documenting their story, while Anya and Slava create porcelain figurines that symbolise their past, present and hope for the future.
The screenings will take place on 20 October at 14:30 and 21 October at 15:30 local time. For more details, click here.
