Documentary about Kyiv's defense wins at US film festival

The documentary Battle for Kyiv has won the top award at the Portland Film Festival in the United States. The film by British-Lebanese journalist and director Oz Katerji won the Best Documentary Award. Shot at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the film tells the story of the struggle of the youngest Ukrainian parliamentarian, Svyatoslav Yurash, and a group of volunteers who took up arms to defend Ukraine's independence.

This was reported on the festival's website.

Oz Katerji is an experienced freelance journalist specializing in covering military conflicts and human rights. He is based in Kyiv, where he continues to document Russian aggression for publications such as Foreign Policy, Sky News and New York Magazine. This win at the festival is a recognition of his work, which demonstrates the courage of Ukrainians in the fight for freedom.

We congratulate Oz Katerji and the entire team of the film "Battle for Kyiv" on this well-deserved award.
