According to preliminary estimates, Republican candidate Donald Trump received 277 electoral votes, securing his return to the White House as the 47th president of the United States.
According to leading American media resources, the Republicans also won a majority in the Senate and are likely to win a majority in the House of Representatives.
Trump, for his part, has already announced his victory in the U.S. presidential election, addressing the nation with promises of a new "golden age" for the United States.
"I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president, and to every citizen, I will fight for you, for your family, and for your future. I will fight for you every day and with every breath I take, and I will not rest until we build the strong, safe, and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be America's golden age," he said on stage in West Palm Beach.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has already begun to express cautious optimism about the further development of cooperation with Trump. The president's office believes that Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be able to find a common language with the new US president. Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has already noted that Trump will not allow Ukraine to fail, as it would be an absolute disaster, and Trump is well aware of this.
"I will stop the war in Ukraine in 24 hours if I win the election, and I will call Putin and Zelensky the same night," Trump said, outlining his intentions to resolve the conflict. Declaring that the U.S. would "get out" of the war after the talks, Trump also emphasized that the conflict was caused by what he called "stupid decisions" by the Joe Biden administration, including Ukraine's desire to join NATO.
