The prestigious week-long international art forum Art Miami + Context 2024 of Art Basel Miami Beach, whose global partner is UBS Art, has opened in Miami Beach. This year's art event brought together 286 leading galleries from 38 countries. The exhibition takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center and unites six main sectors dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Ukraine is represented at the event by works of famous artists thanks to the participation of two galleries - Spivakovska ART: EGO Gallery and Kedria Art.
This was reported by Spivakovska ART: EGO gallery.
This year's event will be held for the first time under the leadership of the famous American art dealer Bridget Finn, who is focused on expanding the program and attracting new participants.
"We strive to create a unique experience for all visitors, whether they are beginners or experienced collectors," said Finn.
Art Basel Miami Beach is divided into several sectors. Each sector has its own unique characteristics, from monumental art to solo presentations by emerging artists.
Galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia are participating. Among the participants are Ukrainian galleries Spivakovska ART: EGO Gallery and Kedria Art, which will present works by artist and public figure of the Assembly of Nationalities of Ukraine Mila Tagieva, artist Lana Kaufman, gallery owner and artist of Soul art Studio-Ukraine Iryna Onopenko, gallery owner and public figure Lika Spivakovska, and others.
"This event offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the world of contemporary art and appreciate works inspired by different styles and techniques. We are happy to share this inspiring artistic journey with everyone who loves contemporary art," commented Kedria Art Gallery.
At the event, for example, artist Lana Kaufman presented her own work, a diptych called Kiss for Peace. The work depicts two sunflowers, which symbolize the national flower of Ukraine.
"When I first moved to the United States, I dreamed of one day showing my work at the most beautiful fair in the country - Art Basel Miami. For many years I have attended this event, admiring the talent and energy, and always imagining my own work adorning its walls. This year that dream will come true! For this event, I have chosen one of my most sincere works - "Kiss for Peace". This diptych depicts two sunflowers - the national symbol of Ukraine - flying towards each other, not to destroy, but to embrace, to love," says Lana Kaufman.
According to the artist, this work has a deep personal meaning for her and was created during a visit to Kyiv in 2023.
"'Kiss for Peace' is a symbol of freedom, love and peace, which I deeply believe in and which will definitely come to all of us," the artist adds.
The works of the Ukrainian artists generated great interest among visitors due to their combination of national symbols and contemporary artistic practices. Art Basel Miami Beach remains a key event in the art world, where Ukrainian artists once again demonstrate their ability to be part of the global art discourse.
