The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago hosted one of the most anticipated events of the season - the annual Tree Lighting & Festival of Cultures. The event, which kicked off the Christmas Around the World and Holiday of Lights exhibitions, brought together visitors of all ages in a festive atmosphere decorated with more than 50 Christmas trees symbolizing cultures from around the world, including Ukraine. The Ukrainian Christmas tree was decorated by UNWLA No. 85.

This event is always full of cultural performances, master classes and interactive activities. Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy the ceremonial lighting of the four-story main Christmas tree, as well as see traditional costumes, musical performances and decorations of different nations.
Representatives from the Ukrainian National Women's League of America (UNWLA) also participated in this large-scale event. Volunteers from Chicago Branches 36 and 85, along with artists Olena Bar and Olena Dyadenko, organized an interactive workshop for children on making Ukrainian Christmas decorations.
Using the technique of traditional Ukrainian glass painting, they helped children create unique holiday ornaments based on specially prepared designs, taking into account the interests and abilities of children of different ages. The children and their parents had the opportunity to learn more about Ukrainian Christmas traditions and national culture.
"We met so many beautiful children! They all loved the Christmas decorating project. We gave the parents lots of educational flyers and homework to read to their children about the symbols of Ukrainian Christmas decorations. All the parents were excited and the children were very happy," said artist Olena Dyadenko.
The event was open to everyone and included live performances, cultural activities, and even a meeting with Santa Claus.
