A regular meeting of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America branch was held in California. Members of the organization discussed the urgent need for increased U.S. military support for Ukraine. The main topic of discussion was the large-scale Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian cities in early September, which resulted in numerous civilian casualties. The meeting resulted in an appeal to the US administration to lift restrictions on the use of military assistance.
Iryna Anpilogova, head of the California branch of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America, told Vilni media about this.
"During our recent meeting at UNWLA Branch 107, we discussed a number of important topics. We started with a prayer led by Father Roman, who kindly joined us for the occasion. This was a meaningful moment for everyone, and we also took time to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the death of Patriarch Joseph Slipyj — a figure whose legacy is deeply significant to our community," said Iryna Anpilohova, head of the UNWLA Branch 107.
According to her, the key focus of the organization is to participate in important campaigns aimed at solving urgent problems caused by Russian aggression. In early September, Russia launched large-scale air attacks on peaceful cities in Ukraine. Dozens of people were killed and hundreds wounded.
Therefore, the participants of the meeting agreed that for effective self-defense, Ukraine needs to be able to strike at military targets in Russia. To this end, they formulated an appeal to the U.S. administration to lift all restrictions on the use of military assistance provided by the United States.
"We urge all members of our community to contact their representatives in Congress and the White House. This call is crucial given what Ukraine is facing," emphasized Anpilogova.
The organization also continues to actively support the Ukrainian community in the United States: building strong relationships with local leaders, supporting local Ukrainian communities, and promoting the development of Ukrainian small businesses.
In August, members of the union took part in the celebration of Ukraine's Independence Day, and in September they joined local festivals such as Scotts Valley Festiva and Rotary Fest in Cupertino. They plan to attend cultural events, including the Victory Charity Auction organized by Peace Corps volunteers on October 2-4. Active preparations for the celebration of Ukrainian winter holidays are underway.
