A bill on Lend-Lease for Ukraine has been registered in the US Congress

Republican Congressman Joe Wilson has introduced a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives that would give the U.S. President expanded powers to provide military assistance to Ukraine in the form of a land package.

This is reported in the bill H.R.1158published on the website of the US Congress.

"Today, I am introducing the Freedom First Lend-Lease Act to give President Trump the flexible authority to send war-fighting weapons to our partners, including Ukraine, to deter the war criminal Putin, as Biden should have done long ago. Bring Russia to the table with American power," commented Congressman Joe Wilson on the bill.

Specifically, the document proposes to allow the head of the White House to enter into agreements with the government of Ukraine to lease defense equipment to protect Ukrainian citizens from Russian aggression.

"Russia should not have access to the technologies of the civilized world, especially America. They have chosen to live in the dark ages, and we must let them," he added.

The congressman also expressed confidence that US President Donald Trump will take decisive action to end the war in Ukraine, as he has repeatedly stated.

"The Lend-Lease Act should help end the war, just as this mechanism helped the Allies win in World War II," Wilson said, explaining the importance of this initiative.

In addition, Wilson emphasized that support for Ukraine is key to the fight for freedom and democracy around the world, noting that Ukrainians today inspire other nations seeking freedom. He specifically mentioned the protests in Georgia against corrupt authorities and election fraud.

The draft has now been submitted to the House Foreign Affairs Committee, but the document itself is not available for review.

Background The previous Lend-Lease Act was in effect in 2022-2023 and expired in October 2023. U.S. authorities did not extend it for 2024.
