Ukraine and the World: Massive Attacks on Ukraine and Another Round of Trump Administration Bans

Against the backdrop of the suspension of U.S. military aid, russia has intensified its massive attacks on Ukraine, using Shahed drones and missiles to exhaust Ukrainian air defense. Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador Bridget Brink condemned these actions but avoided directly mentioning russia as the perpetrator of the strikes.

U.S. Ambassador Responds to Night Attacks on Ukraine Without Mentioning russia

On the night of March 7, russia carried out one of the largest attacks on Ukraine in recent months. As a result of the combined strike across multiple regions, at least 11 people were killed, and another 40 were injured.

In particular, in Dobropillia, the occupiers used Iskander-M missiles, Tornado-S MLRS, and Geran-2 drones.

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink responded to the attack, calling it "horrific" but avoiding mentioning russia as the perpetrator. She emphasized that the Ukrainian civilian population bears the main burden of the war.

U.S. Suspends Transmission of Maxar Satellite Images to Ukraine, Weakening Kyiv's Defense Capabilities

The American company Maxar Technologies, known for its high-quality satellite images, has suspended the provision of these data to Ukraine by order of U.S. President Donald Trump's administration. This decision significantly limits the ability of the Ukrainian military to monitor russian troops and plan operations.

Ukraine-U.S. Talks in Saudi Arabia

Next week, negotiations between Ukraine and the U.S. will take place in Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian delegation will be led by Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak, Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov (or, according to other sources, Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko), Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa, and Foreign Ministry representative Andriy Sybiha. The meeting will follow President Zelensky’s talks with the Saudi Crown Prince.

The main goal of the meeting is to discuss possible frameworks for a peace agreement and an initial ceasefire. The U.S. will be represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and other high-ranking officials. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is "clearly set on a constructive approach" and hopes for productive agreements.

russia May Use U.S. Aid Suspension to Exhaust Ukrainian Air Defense

Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) warnsthat russia may exploit the suspension of American aid and intelligence sharing to deplete Ukrainian air defense. The occupiers are increasing the number of Shahed drones in each strike and using decoy drones to locate air defense positions. In February, russia launched an average of 139 drones per strike group, and from March 1 to 7, the number was 128.8.

Analysts note that russia’s strategy also aims to drain Ukraine’s stockpile of Patriot interceptors used to defend against ballistic missiles. At the same time, strikes on energy infrastructure could have long-term consequences for both the civilian population and Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
