The charitable organization Yolo for Ukraine held an Authentic Soul Barbecue Buffet event in Davis, California, during which $7,000 was raised to purchase medical supplies for Ukrainian soldiers.

The event took place on June 6 and brought together about 50 participants who came to support Ukraine and the humanitarian fundraising mission for Durham Humanitarian. The nonprofit organization, founded by Rocky and Emmy Durham, delivers medical equipment, generators, warm clothing, and other essential aid to Ukraine for both civilians and military personnel.
One of the initiators of the fundraiser was Yolo for Ukraine co-founder Nancy Fischer, who plans to join another Durham Humanitarian mission to Ukraine this summer.
During the charity evening, auctions and raffles of artistic items were held. A handmade quilt created by Nancy Gray drew particular attention. It had previously served as the main lot of a spring charity raffle and brought in an additional $2,500 in support of Ukraine.
Guests could also choose Ukrainian souvenirs and handmade jewelry in exchange for voluntary donations. One of the auction lots was a traditional Ukrainian sylianka — a replica of an antique ornament — made by craftswoman and Sunflower Society co-organizer Olga Noshyn. It added another $200 to the fundraiser. A separate part of the exhibition featured original copper artworks provided for the event by Ihor Khomut.
A total of $4,500 was raised directly during the charity barbecue. Together with the funds from the quilt raffle, the overall amount raised reached $7,000.
The organizers emphasized that all donations are transferred directly to the purchase of medical supplies for Ukraine, with no administrative costs.
The event was held with the support of the Sunflower Society and the community of Ukraine supporters in Sacramento. The evening was hosted by Gregg and Marla Cook, while the Joshua’s Ribs team provided the food for guests.
