US President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the terms of a possible ceasefire in Ukraine. Trump expressed hope that a peace agreement would be reached soon, noting that "many parts of the deal have already been agreed upon." Kyiv, however, remains skeptical about Moscow's readiness for genuine peace.
Resumption of US military aid to Ukraine
After reaching an agreement on a 30-day ceasefire, the United States has resumed military aid and intelligence sharing with Kyiv. The move is aimed at supporting Ukraine under the temporary ceasefire and creating conditions for further negotiations.
Rubio: US closer to peace in Ukraine
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that negotiations to end the war have brought the parties closer to peace, although there is still much work to be done. In an interview Fox News Radio, he stressed that significant progress has been made in the past two weeks, and the Ukrainian delegation agreed to a freeze of hostilities at a meeting in Saudi Arabia. Now it remains to get similar commitments from Russia.
US audit: $30 billion in aid to Ukraine used without violations
The Accounting Chamber of Ukraine has held four audits of the use of $30 billion in direct U.S. budget support. No violations were found - all funds were used for their intended purpose. The funds were implemented through several large programs, including PEACE in Ukraine, which amounted to more than $27 billion. The audit confirmed the transparency of reporting and the effectiveness of the use of funds.
Rutte confident in Trump's ability to achieve peace
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has has expressed confidence that Donald Trump will be able to achieve a peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine. He noted that the US president has been familiar with Putin's tactics since his first term and knows how to negotiate with him. Rutte also praised the ceasefire proposal agreed between the US and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia.
