In August, the annual picnic organized by Ukrainian Selfreliance Michigan Federal Credit Union (FCU) took place in Brighton's Dibrova Park. It was one of the warmest and largest events for the Ukrainian community in the state. Hundreds of Ukrainians gathered in a friendly atmosphere to celebrate unity and support each other and Ukraine.

"This year, our traditional picnic once again brought together a large Ukrainian family! It had everything we love so much: a heartfelt concert, delicious food, vendors, and an incredible atmosphere of warmth, unity, and joy," said the FCU.
The event began with a Divine Liturgy and the blessing of baskets, led by Father Daniel Chaykovsky. The highlight of the event was the concert, "Ukrainians, We Are One Family," organized by Natalia Shmoron, a member of the 76th chapter of the Ukrainian Women's National League of America (UNWLA).
The concert featured local artists Tetiana Bedrus, Vasyl Fedorko, Olga Yalovenko, Iryna Prunko, Myroslava and Angelina Vinnichok, Andriy Savulyak, Yuriy Dutchak, the folk song ensemble "Dzherelo" led by Lyudmila Telebzda, and the vocal ensemble "Brevis" led by Andriy Dutka. The Kolomeyka Dance Ensemble Detroit, led by Tasi and Ivan Zaritsky, added a touch of Ukrainian flair. Oksana Khoptyan hosted the event.
Guests had the opportunity to taste traditional Ukrainian dishes prepared by members of the 76th UNWLA chapter, as well as the famous shashliks from Hoverla F.C.
According to reports, the event was festive and charitable. Volunteers and organizations that support Ukraine tirelessly joined the event. Andriy Synyutka and his team prepared dishes, and the proceeds went to support the Ukrainian military. Revived Soldiers Ukraine presented their activities to support wounded defenders, including medical care and prosthetics. Anna Kovalenko and the Ukrainian Society of Michigan helped organize the event.
"You made this day special, filling it with laughter, friendly conversations, delicious food, and sincere hugs. Thank you to everyone who came to our tent for treats and for showing your support, unity, love for Ukrainian culture, and loyalty to our heroic soldiers. Together, we created a celebration that inspires and unites our community!" Andriy Synyutka shared his impressions.
In addition to the cultural program, all union members had the opportunity to win cash prizes in the holiday lottery.
"For several years in a row, the Ukrainian Credit Union of Michigan has united many volunteer groups and charitable organizations into one powerful team that works together at the picnic — of course, to help Ukraine achieve victory," emphasized UNWLA member Natalia Shmoron.
