Ukraine has already won six medals at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris

In the first days of competition at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, the Ukrainian national team won six medals at once. Our swimmers brought Ukraine two silver and two bronze medals. Ukraine also won its first silver medal in athletics and its first gold.

On the first day of the competition, the first four medals were won in swimming in different classes. Anton Kohl won silver in the 100-meter backstroke, Iryna Poyda won silver in the 200-meter freestyle, Anna Gontar won bronze in the 50-meter freestyle, and Oleksandr Komarov won bronze in the 200-meter freestyle.

Ukraine also won its first medal in athletics. It was won by Vladyslav Bilyi, who became a silver medalist in the javelin throw in the F38 class. 

And finally, the first gold medal of the 2024 Paralympics for Ukraine was won by Oleksandr Komarov, who won the 100-meter freestyle, breaking the Paralympic record in the final.

The 17th Summer Paralympic Games have started in Paris and will last until September 8. These are the eighth Summer Games with the participation of Ukrainian Paralympic athletes. Since independence, Ukrainian Paralympians have won 613 medals. Ukraine will be represented at this Summer Olympics by 140 athletes who will compete in 17 out of 22 sports. This is the largest representation of Ukraine in sports, previously it was 15. The motto of the Ukrainian National Paralympic Team: “Your support is our victory!”
