A series of charity events and gatherings were recently held in Chicago in support of the Protez Foundation, which helps wounded Ukrainian defenders receive advanced prosthetics, undergo rehabilitation, and return to full lives. More than $44,000 in donations were raised during these events.

“These were special days, filled with humanity, support, and a true Ukrainian spirit. We felt like part of one big family. Thank you for your open hearts, warm hugs, and selfless generosity,” the Foundation wrote.
The events included meetings with veterans, presentations on the Foundation’s work, and fundraising for prosthetics and rehabilitation programs. The atmosphere was enriched by warm conversations, homemade pastries, and cultural programs from Ukrainian festivals.
Thanks to the generosity of local parishes and individual donors, the Foundation received significant contributions, totaling over $44,000, including: $27,532 from the Uketoberfest Ukrainian Festival (St. Joseph the Betrothed Ukrainian Catholic Church), $3,500 from an event at St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Church, $12,000 from Ukrainian Christian Pentecostal Church (Bensenville, IL), $800 from a personal donation by Maria Zvereva Bochkor
“We thank our volunteers, who we can always rely on. You are our foundation and driving force,” the Protez Foundation noted, praising the active engagement of Chicago’s Ukrainian community and the contributions of individual volunteers.
