The Boston Ukrainian Community held a traditional fall picnic at Pequitside Farm in Canton, Massachusetts. The warm atmosphere, Ukrainian food, and friendly gatherings brought together dozens of families, friends, and new acquaintances—those for whom the community has become a part of their home away from Ukraine.
This was reported by Anton Khlebas.
The picnic was held in a patlok format, where everyone brought their own homemade dish to the shared table. As always, it turned out to be a kind of mini-festival of Ukrainian cuisine—with fresh dumplings, borscht, cabbage rolls, salads, meat dishes, and homemade pastries. In addition, guests could warm up with a fragrant hot drink prepared right on the spot according to a traditional recipe.
The organizers emphasized that the event was created for everyone – families with children, friends, new members of the community.
“I always feel so warm when I see our people who came and shared this event with us. On this day, many people said that they felt like they were at home for a day!”, – noted one of the initiators of the event, Anton Khlebas.
The holiday began traditionally with the National Anthem of Ukraine, after which there were games for children, musical performances and relaxed communication.
The spacious territory of the farm, autumn weather created ideal conditions for family recreation. Some of the participants joined the picnic for the first time, but promised to definitely return next year.
The organizers thanked everyone who joined the joint preparation, in particular for delicious dishes, volunteer help, compliance with parking rules and maintaining cleanliness in the territory.
The event ended with joint photos, songs and an agreement to meet again in the spring.
