The Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA), one of the oldest and most influential Ukrainian women’s organizations in the United States, has issued a statement strongly condemning the proposed so-called “peace plan” for Ukraine. According to the organization, the proposal effectively dismantles Ukraine’s sovereignty and legitimizes Russian aggression.

“Instead of being a plan for a just and legitimate peace, this document effectively envisions the dismantling of Ukraine as a sovereign state and seeks to permanently cement its subordination to the aggressor state — Russia,” the statement reads.
UNWLA notes that the proposal contains no mechanisms whatsoever to hold Russia accountable for its war crimes in Ukraine — including deportations, torture, filtration camps, and the systematic abduction of Ukrainian children — while simultaneously demanding that Ukraine agree to a forced redrawing of its borders and significant restrictions on its ability to defend itself.
“This is not a peace plan. It is an ultimatum based on Russia’s ‘wish list.’ It not only legitimizes territorial seizures gained by Russia through armed aggression but also grants Russia additional benefits it failed to achieve by force,” the statement continues.
The organization also underscores that the plan effectively imposes limitations or outright bans on international alliances and military assistance.
“This coerced plan forces Ukraine to accept conditions that violate its sovereignty, effectively eliminating it as a free and independent democratic state. True and just peace cannot be based on coercion. This ‘peace plan’ has nothing in common with a legitimate peace process,” the document emphasizes.
UNWLA calls on the U.S. Congress and Administration to take a principled stance and reject any proposal that undermines global security.
“We urge the U.S. Congress and the Administration to stand in defense of Ukraine and the principles of sovereignty, freedom, and self-determination. Reject this proposed ‘peace plan,’ which destroys Ukraine, normalizes and rewards Russian aggression, and weakens the United States and the entire transatlantic community,” UNWLA stresses.
The organization also calls on all friends of Ukraine in the United States to actively engage in advocacy — to contact their elected representatives using the online tool provided by the American Coalition for Ukraine, and to join nationwide demonstrations against the coercive “peace plan.”
