UCCA Creates Emergency Task Force to Counter Russian Attacks on Ukraine’s Energy

The Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America (UCCA) has announced the creation of the Emergency Energy Task Force “POWER UP Ukraine,” which aims to counter Russia’s deliberate attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and prevent a humanitarian catastrophe ahead of the winter season.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America.

“The Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America (UCCA) is proud to announce the creation of the Emergency Energy Task Force “POWER UP Ukraine” to counter the critical and deliberate energy crisis that Russia is waging in Ukraine,” the statement said.

The Task Force is reported to include energy experts, former U.S. diplomats, heads of humanitarian organizations and non-governmental organizations, as well as representatives of the Ukrainian-American community. All of them are united by a common goal - to ensure a rapid and coordinated international response to the energy crisis in Ukraine.

In particular, it is specified that Russia's systematic attacks on Ukraine's energy network are considered by the UCCA as part of a broader genocidal strategy.

“Russia's continuous systematic attacks on Ukraine's energy network are part of a broader genocidal strategy aimed at breaking the will of the Ukrainian people through deprivation, suffering and death,” the message emphasizes.

The UCCA notes that the targeted destruction of power plants, heating stations and fuel supplies is a gross violation of international humanitarian law and poses a direct threat to the lives of the civilian population, especially in the winter.

The Emergency Energy Task Force will work in close coordination with the Ukrainian National Energy Response Team, as well as with leading U.S. experts in the energy, humanitarian, and infrastructure sectors.

It is also noted that the Task Force’s activities will focus on two key areas: assessing and addressing Ukraine’s urgent needs for critical energy equipment, and strengthening advocacy efforts in the United States to increase government and public support.

“Russia is trying to force an entire nation into submission by freezing it out. This Task Force will ensure that the United States and the broader international community respond with urgency, coordination, and determination. Energy is life, and depriving civilians of it is an act of terror that we cannot allow to prevail,” said UCCA President Mykhailo Savkiv.

The UCCA emphasized that the creation of the Working Group is an immediately necessary step to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe, as every day of delay puts thousands of lives at risk and encourages a further campaign of terror by Russia.
