Ukrainian Children from Chicago’s “Barvystok” Center Carol for Wounded Defenders

In Chicago, students of the “Barvystok” arts center raised two and a half thousand dollars during a charity Christmas caroling initiative to support Ukrainian defenders who are undergoing medical treatment and rehabilitation in the United States. The event was initiated by the center’s director, Honored Artist of Variety Arts of Ukraine Tetiana Baryliak, known by her stage name BARVA.

This was reported by Radio UA Chicago

Children aged 5 to 18, all students of the “Barvystok” center, took part in the charity caroling. Under the professional guidance of their mentor, the children prepared a program of Ukrainian Christmas carols and, throughout the holiday season, visited a number of Ukrainian institutions, businesses, and organizations.

The goal of the charity caroling was to raise funds to support Ukrainian soldiers receiving treatment and rehabilitation in the United States. The assistance is planned to be distributed through the Heroes Protection Fund at St. Joseph the Betrothed Church, as well as the charitable organizations Revived Soldiers Ukraine and Protez Foundation.

The young carolers were warmly welcomed by Ukrainian organizations, venues, and businesses in Chicago, including a Selfreliance bank branch, the office of Dolynka Ukrainian-American Consulting, the editorial offices of the Surma newspaper and Radio UA Chicago, the European grocery store “Stefania,” the embroidered clothing salon “Luxart,” the restaurant “Velour,” as well as Ukrainian families and people of goodwill. At each location, traditional Ukrainian carols were performed, inspiring heartfelt sing-alongs and creating an atmosphere of shared prayer and Christmas joy.

During the caroling, members of the ensemble were treated to sweets, given souvenirs, and thanked for their warm greetings and festive spirit. As a result of the charitable initiative, two and a half thousand dollars were collected.

The organizers emphasize that the Christmas caroling became an example of combining children’s artistic education with the cultivation of values such as compassion, unity, and responsibility for others. The event demonstrated that Christmas traditions passed down from generation to generation take on special meaning in today’s context, uniting spirituality with tangible help for those in need.
