An advocacy event titled “Ukrainian Days” will take place in Washington, D.C., from February 22 to 25. This will be the first such event of the new year, aimed at supporting Ukraine and strengthening engagement between the Ukrainian American community and the U.S. Congress.

This was reported by the Ukrainian National Information Service (UNIS), the Washington-based public affairs bureau of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA).

“As Ukraine enters the fifth year of Russia’s full-scale invasion, this advocacy event will provide an opportunity for in-person meetings with the offices of U.S. members of Congress and for advancing our key demands,” the statement says.

According to the announcement, within the framework of “Ukrainian Days” participants will advocate for immediate security assistance to Ukraine, the imposition of crippling sanctions against Russia, the designation of Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, and the recognition of the war and the abduction of Ukrainian children as an act of genocide.

It is also reported that, marking the fourth anniversary of Russia’s genocidal war against Ukraine, the program includes the presentation of the “Friend of UNIS” awards to members of Congress and other individuals who have consistently supported Ukraine and the development of U.S.–Ukraine relations.

A number of accompanying events are also planned in Washington. In particular, on February 21, a nationwide rally in support of Ukraine will be held near the Lincoln Memorial.

In addition, on February 25, the National Press Club in Washington will host the Ukraine Security Dialogue — the 18th annual U.S. – Ukraine Security Dialogue — dedicated to assessing Ukraine’s defense capabilities and needs after four years of war.

As specified, the security dialogue program includes panel discussions featuring former NATO commanders, American and Ukrainian military experts, representatives of think tanks, and policymakers, including discussions on air defense, drone technologies, and cyber and information warfare.

Registration for participation in “Ukrainian Days” will remain open until February 18. The organizers are calling on members of the Ukrainian American community to join the event in order to directly convey Ukraine’s position to U.S. lawmakers.
