A classical music concert was held in Chicago, at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art. The event featured works by Ukrainian and world composers performed by professional and young musicians. The event was held in support of the activities of the institute, which this year celebrates the 55th anniversary of its founding.

According to one of the organizers of the concert, Bohdan Geryavenka, the program included works that belong to the treasury of Ukrainian and world classical music.
“We composed it from works that belong to the treasury of both Ukrainian and world classical music. Because this is truly eternal music. It excites. It inspires. It awakens the most sincere feelings, experiences, love, dreams, hope. And it is very nice that young people are drawn to such music. And it is very nice that the youth are performing it,” said Bohdan Geryavenko in a comment to “Surmi”.
As is known, the concert was attended by the young violinist Yulia Perekhozuk, who performed the arrangement of the song “The Duck is Swimming” and “Ukrainian Dance” based on folk melodies arranged by M. Melnychenko.
In particular, the opera singer Halyna Geryavenko presented the works “Prayer” by Valery Kwasniewski, the waltz song “The Kiss” by Luigi Arditi, “Two Streams from Chornogora” by Anatoly Kos-Anatolsky and Mykhailo Petrenko, as well as “Swim, Little Red Riding Hood” by Heorhiy Maiboroda to the words of Andriy Malyshko.
Together with the baritone Nazariy Mykhailoenko, she performed the romance by Mykola Lysenko to the words of Heinrich Heine “When Two Are Parting.” In addition, Nazariy Mykhailenko presented the works “To Ukraine” by Igor Sonevytsky and “Hard Times Will Never Come Again” by Stephen Foster.
Baritone Vadym Dubovsky performed the composition “Bezmezhneye Pole” by Mykola Lysenko with lyrics by Ivan Franko. The performers were accompanied by pianist Myroslav Mykhailenko, who also presented the Sonata in B-flat minor by Frederic Chopin.
The concert program was concluded by the song dialogues of Odarka and Karas from Semyon Hulak-Artemovsky’s opera “The Zaporozhets Beyond the Danube” performed by Halyna Geryavenko and Vadym Dubovsky.
The concert was part of the activities in support of the activities of the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, which has been popularizing Ukrainian culture in the United States for 55 years.
